Chemical properties colorless or white needle like crystals, can be yellow due to light. It has a strong wood phenol flavor with slight sweet aroma. The melting point is 41~43, the boiling point is 218~219, and the flash point is 100. The relative density (d420) is 1.011, and the refractive index (nD25) is 1.5239. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone, benzene and carbon disulfide. Natural products are found in eggs, European sour vines, pork, rum, whiskey, coffee and so on.
Uses GB 2760--1996 specified for permitted use of food spices. Used in the preparation of bogey, rum, smoked pork, ham, coffee and other flavors.
Application is an important pesticide intermediate, which can produce a series of high grade, low toxicity and low residue pesticides
The production process is catalyzed by phenol and ethylene or ethanol. The reaction between 4- chloro benzene and sodium hydroxide under the catalysis of copper powder was obtained.
