Chemical properties: Cyclohexane is volatile and highly flammable. The vapor and air form an explosive mixture with an explosion limit of 1.3 to 8.3% (volume). It is easy to burn and explode when exposed to open flames or high heat. Reacts violently with oxidizing agents and may even cause combustion. In a fire, there is a risk of explosion from heated containers. Its vapor is heavier than air and can spread to a considerable distance from a lower place. It does not react with medium-concentration nitric acid or mixed acid at low temperatures. It reacts with dilute nitric acid in sealed tubes above 100°C to produce nitrocyclohexane. Under the catalysis of platinum or palladium, dehydrogenation reaction occurs above 350℃ to form benzene. Together with alumina, molybdenum sulfide, cobalt, nickel, and aluminum, it isomerizes at high temperatures to produce methylpentane. It isomerizes to methylcyclopentane under mild conditions with aluminum trichloride.

Usage: Mainly used in the manufacture of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone. It is widely used as a solvent in the coating industry.
