Physical & Chemical Property:
The product crystallized from the water is white powder. The solubility in water at 25℃ is 0.5g/L. Insoluble in cold water, alcohol and general organic solvents. Soluble in sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate and ammonia solutions.
Application:
EDTA (molecular weight 292) and its salts are amino polycarboxylic acids that can efficiently chelate calcium ions in blood specimens. Chelating calcium, or removing calcium from the reaction site, blocks and terminates the endogenous or exogenous clotting process, thereby preventing the blood specimen from clotting. It is suitable for general hematological tests (usually the potassium salt EDTA-K2 or EDTA-K3 is used for routine hematological tests), not suitable for coagulation tests and platelet function tests, and not suitable for the determination of calcium ions, potassium ions, sodium ions, iron ions, alkaline phosphatase, creatine kinase and leucine aminopeptidase and PCR tests. EDTA-Li2 can also be used as an anticoagulant and can be used for most biochemical tests.
