Chemical Properties: Colorless and transparent oily liquid with a special odor similar to benzaldehyde. Color quickly changes to reddish brown when exposed to light and air. Easily evaporates with steam. Slightly soluble in water, easily soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone, chloroform and benzene.

Usage Mainly used as industrial solvent for the preparation of furfuryl alcohol, furoic acid, tetrahydrofuran, γ-valerolactone, pyrrole, tetrahydropyrrole, etc.

Usage: Used as a raw material for organic synthesis, and also used in synthetic resins, varnishes, pesticides, medicines, rubber and coatings, etc.

Production method: It is obtained by hydrolyzing, dehydrating and distilling pentosan-rich agricultural waste, such as corn cobs, cottonseed hulls, rice bran and sugar beet pulp, with dilute acid.
